Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer, WAN to design and manage the global network backbone that connects Fluidstack’s data centers and GPU clusters. You will be tasked with creating high-performance, secure, and dependable wide-area networks (WANs) to facilitate data transfer across various regions. Your collaboration with our compute, storage, infrastructure, and facility teams will be crucial to ensure seamless and low-latency connectivity throughout our operational landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage high-throughput, low-latency WAN connections across our data center sites.
  • Demonstrate expertise in optical transport technologies (DWDM, ROADM, coherent optics) alongside platforms like Ciena.
  • Lead comprehensive carrier engagements: circuit procurement, contract negotiation, SLA management, and issue escalation.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance interconnect performance, focusing on routing efficiency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization.
  • Coordinate with ICT and facility teams on physical fiber entries, cross-connects, and demarcation points.
  • Develop and sustain WAN capacity models; anticipate bandwidth requirements aligned with our deployment roadmap.
  • Automate the configuration, provisioning, and oversight of WAN infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage site-to-site VPNs, private peering, and direct connections with hyperscalers.
  • Troubleshoot intricate network challenges.
  • Establish best practices for redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineering, SREs, and software teams to enhance our systems.
  • Support future expansion efforts by contributing to global network growth strategies.
