About the job

About Mastery Schools:

Established in 2001, Mastery Schools is a dynamic public charter network comprising 23 K-12 institutions in Philadelphia and Camden, educating over 14,000 students.

Our mission is to equip every student with the academic and personal competencies essential for success beyond graduation. Student achievement is the cornerstone of our existence, and each team member is committed to fostering student success. We actively pursue equity, challenge systemic racism, and work to eliminate disparities that restrict our students' opportunities.

Our organizational culture is grounded in respect, service, and the belief that the success of our students, their families, and the communities we serve is integral to fulfilling our mission. We promote a positive, inclusive environment that celebrates honesty, humor, and continuous improvement.

Join us in our quest to establish a premier urban school district that embraces excellence for all students. Together, we can create a significant impact.

The Opportunity:

At Mastery, we have wholeheartedly adopted the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) framework to foster a transformative educational experience. The NGSS and STEELs approach empowers students to actively engage in their learning, nurturing deep understanding, critical thinking, and a lifelong enthusiasm for scientific inquiry. From the moment students walk through our doors, they are immersed in core scientific concepts and practices reminiscent of real scientists.

Our K-12 curriculum, aligned with NGSS and STEELs, allows students to participate in hands-on experiments, data analysis, and problem-solving activities that simulate authentic scientific experiences. Students confront real-world challenges, enhancing their problem-solving abilities and cultivating a deeper appreciation for the relevance and impact of science in their lives.

As a science teacher at Mastery, you will set ambitious expectations while providing robust support to ensure all your students can excel. You will collaborate closely with our Specialized Services and School Culture teams to guarantee your students receive the necessary resources to thrive.

We prioritize Continuous Improvement at Mastery and encourage you to enhance your teaching skills. A dedicated team of Assistant Principals, central-office coaches, and school-based content teams is available to provide coaching and feedback to every educator. Committing to NGSS and STEELs entails ongoing professional development opportunities, including workshops and training sessions.
