Educational/Experience Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of clerical or billing experience in a medical office setting. Proficient in operating multi-line phone systems, fax machines, photocopiers, PCs, credit card machines, glucometers, EKG machines, and other medical equipment as required.

Luminis Health seeks a Medical Assistant for its Annapolis, MD location. This role supports both administrative and clinical functions to help providers deliver quality patient care and ensure smooth office operations.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Register and schedule patients accurately, including printing provider schedules.
  2. Keep examination rooms and the office stocked with necessary medical and office supplies.
  3. Order clinical supplies following practice guidelines.
  4. Apply Quality Assurance and Quality Control standards: complete lab requests, referrals, and health forms; maintain required logs; administer injections, EKGs, and spirometry; perform phlebotomy and provide therapeutic treatments as directed by physicians, all in line with state and federal regulations.
  5. Check patient eligibility using systems such as Medicaid EVS, and determine when referrals or preauthorizations are needed.
  6. Answer and screen incoming calls, greet patients courteously, and maintain telephone etiquette while protecting patient health information.
  7. Enter data accurately and promptly in electronic health records, accessing patient files only as needed for job duties.
  8. Take and record patient vital signs in medical records, prepare patients for exams, assist providers during assessments, and support the clinical team as needed.
  9. Demonstrate I. C. A. R. E. behaviors to contribute to a positive patient experience.
  10. Take on additional projects and duties as assigned.
