About the job

ABOUT US:

At Astro Mechanica, we're not just an aerospace company; we are pioneers committed to redefining the future of flight. Our mission revolves around democratizing high-speed travel by enabling flexible, accessible, and sustainable supersonic journeys. We envision a world where rapid, on-demand mobility becomes the norm for transporting people and goods across the globe. To realize this vision, we are leveraging our cutting-edge airframe and engine technologies, including our proprietary Duality™ propulsion system, alongside a new flight operations model to make supersonic transport as efficient and affordable as current commercial air travel. In the short term, we are focused on developing versatile high-speed systems to meet the performance needs of the United States government.

WHO WE ARE:

We are a collective of passionate engineers driven by a shared commitment to advancing aerospace technology. Our team consists of generalists with specialized expertise, united by a flat organizational structure and a relentless pursuit of engineering excellence. We prioritize agility and practicality, allowing our achievements to speak louder than titles.

WHO YOU ARE:

You are an integration-focused engineer who excels at the aircraft level and relishes the challenge of tackling technically ambiguous problems from concept to testing. You possess the versatility to work across various disciplines—structures, propulsion, avionics, and flight sciences—and are dedicated to creating tools, processes, and analyses that are indispensable to your team.

Your ability to distill complexity into clarity is a point of pride: transforming incomplete data into reliable models, evolving designs into defensible mass properties, and program milestones into efficient technical gate reviews. You are at ease with spreadsheets, coding, and design reviews, and you thrive on being hands-on with hardware.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Spearhead the development, maintenance, and automation of weight and balance tools, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and user-friendliness across the program.

  • Oversee mass properties tracking, prediction, and reporting throughout the design, build, and testing phases, acting as the authoritative source of truth while interfacing with Teamcenter PLM and inventory management systems.

  • Administer mechanical design guidelines to promote standard practices across structures, systems, and avionics teams. Evaluate and document CAD and design best practices.

  • Lead the selection of standard materials, hardware, and design elements to ensure consistency and quality across all designs.
