Hardware Team: The Hardware Team at Field AI is engaged in crafting perception and computational payloads that empower autonomous robotics systems to thrive in demanding real-world conditions. Our efforts encompass the entire hardware stack, including designing and integrating sensing systems (LiDAR, cameras, TOF, IMU, GPS), embedded computing (CPUs, GPUs, microcontrollers, Linux, ROS), electrical systems (power distribution, communication), and mechanical components (structures, thermal management, ingress protection). We focus on both development (research, design, prototyping, testing) and operational aspects (production, testing, QA, debugging). As a small, agile team, we are committed to enhancing: 1) core capabilities, 2) system reliability, and 3) system scalability. We are also in the process of establishing operational systems and procedures from the ground up.
Mechanical Systems Role: As a Mechanical Engineer within the Hardware Team at Field AI, your contributions will revolve around the design and implementation of mechanical systems that shelter and support sensing and computational platforms in real-world settings. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide array of tasks, from creating ruggedized enclosures to managing thermal performance and ensuring manufacturability, all crucial for guaranteeing system reliability in the field. You will engage in the complete lifecycle of projects, from CAD design to production and field support. Collaboration with electrical, computational, and systems engineers will be vital to develop seamlessly integrated solutions tailored for deployment in challenging environments. While your primary focus will be on mechanical systems, you may also lend your expertise across various hardware domains.
