ABOUT THE ROLE

Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS), a subsidiary of CannonDesign, is dedicated to fostering a people-first environment. We are expanding, and this new role for a Mechanical Assessor is pivotal. The ideal candidate will lead the mechanical and plumbing assessments of facilities across diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, sports, public, and commercial.

As a Mechanical Assessor, you will observe, identify, and document all mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems within a facility. Your role involves pinpointing deficiencies and providing recommendations with budgetary cost estimates for remediation. Additionally, you will mentor junior Mechanical Assessors, ensure quality control for the mechanical discipline, liaise with clients and facility staff, and assist Project Managers as required.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Conduct on-site facility condition assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team on existing buildings and civil assets.
  • Evaluate mechanical systems such as HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, and boilers.
  • Collaborate with clients and site personnel to assess assets, maintaining an average walk rate of 100,000 to 225,000 square feet of building space per day.
  • Provide detailed technical descriptions of observed systems and their deficiencies.
  • Assess the overall condition of each system and its remaining useful life.
  • Offer corrective recommendations for identified deficiencies.
  • Deliver rough cost estimates for executing your recommendations, which will aid clients in future project and capital planning.
  • Interview building operations and maintenance staff to gather insights into building history, recent and chronic maintenance challenges, and operational information.
  • Prepare project progress documentation for managerial review.
  • Review peer work and actively engage in post-project evaluations.
