Role Overview

IEM is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join the team in Surrey. This position focuses on assembling metal-based modular workbench and material storage systems for the manufacturing floor. The role works closely with operations, continuous improvement, quality, and process engineering teams to deliver these systems on time and to specification. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician reports to the Engineering Tech Supervisor.

What You Will Do

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials to assemble modular metal workbenches and storage systems.
  • Use measuring tools such as scales, calipers, and micrometers to ensure assemblies meet required tolerances.
  • Install electrical components, including lights, switches, and motors, as needed for workbench systems.
  • Drill, tap, punch, and mount components according to specifications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to help implement new manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Assist in designing and modifying workbench and material replenishment systems to support operational needs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to boost efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing practices and methods.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Take on additional duties as needed to support the team and organization (training provided).
