The Role

In this role, you will be at the forefront of machine learning research, enabling the transformative Abridge experience. We are seeking research scientists who possess expertise in machine learning and natural language processing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, familiarity with foundational models, a sincere interest in the medical field, and exceptional critical thinking abilities. At Abridge, our ML projects are deeply rooted in research, and our research scientists make direct contributions to impactful products that improve the lives of healthcare providers.

What You'll Do

  • Push the boundaries of medical NLP, focusing on areas such as conversation summarization, evidence extraction, outcome prediction, evaluation techniques, and experimentation.

  • Contribute to the broader research community by sharing and publishing original findings.

  • Define crucial challenges, identify relevant baselines, develop cutting-edge methodologies, and implement them in production.

  • Engage deeply with real-time clinician feedback to drive continuous improvements and innovations.

  • Be results-oriented when navigating ambiguous challenges and unpredictable outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • A solid research background demonstrated through published papers and a graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, or a related field.
