To succeed in this role, you must have:Late model equipment that complies with Altom’s inspection standards. Valid CDL Class A License. Tanker Endorsement (N) – Required. Hazmat Endorsement (H) – Preferred (must be obtained within 90 days of hire, with assistance available). TWIC Card – Preferred (or must be obtained after hire). A minimum of 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience. At least 23 years of age. A clean MVR and a proven safety record. Able to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check. Dependability, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work independently. Willingness to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations when necessary.

Role overview

This Local Owner Operator - Tanker Driver position is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Drivers run local routes and return home daily. The role centers on transporting chemical and petroleum products with a focus on safety and compliance.

Main responsibilities

  • Operate tank trailers to transport chemical and petroleum products, adhering to all DOT regulations.
  • Maintain your truck to meet inspection standards and keep it in excellent condition.
  • Handle loading and unloading for ISO/Flexi-Bag or tanker operations, following all required procedures at pickup and delivery sites.
  • Keep accurate logs, manage paperwork, and comply with Hazmat regulations.
  • Represent Altom Transport professionally at customer locations.
  • Oversee business operations, including fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling to maximize revenue.
  • Meet required mileage or hours to maintain steady work and support operational needs.
  • Remain available around the clock for assignments as needed.
