Location:

Infleqtion operates from multiple office locations, including Boulder/Louisville, CO; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; Oxford, UK; and Melbourne, AU. This role is full-time and hybrid, primarily based in our Louisville, CO office.

Position Overview:

We are on the lookout for a highly skilled Principal Thermal Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will ensure that our sensor head and electronics maintain optimal temperature limits during physics sequences that enable quantum sensing operations in space.

The position requires close collaboration with our key customers, internal management, researchers, systems engineers, aerospace specialists, manufacturing partners, suppliers, and subcontractors. You will play an integral role in engaging with customers and partners throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery against milestones and commitments, while aligning with Infleqtion’s rigorous internal product lifecycle and quality standards. This role will require you to drive technical alignment across hardware, software, systems, and mission domains.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 10% travel may be required to support off-site testing, deliveries, and integration activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the existing system-level thermal model to ensure operations remain within space environmental constraints.
  • Facilitate regular technical discussions and model reviews focusing on both in-house and subcontractor electronic card and enclosure cooling designs, addressing unique thermal requirements.
  • Design and test thermal solutions for microgravity environments.
  • Modify flight thermal designs for microgravity testing.
  • Act as a hands-on engineer with practical experience in constructing both Engineering Development Units (EDU) and flight hardware.
  • Install Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) and bond heaters and thermistors using ASTM-E595 compliant materials.
  • Report progress and results effectively to stakeholders.
