The AECOM Oakland, California Geo-Engineering Department is actively seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Geotechnical Engineer to spearhead our geotechnical engineering initiatives. This pivotal role involves directing projects across a diverse range of facilities, such as dams, pipelines, tunnels, levees, bridges, refineries, and structural buildings, while collaborating with various disciplines within AECOM.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in supervising and mentoring staff during geotechnical investigations, analyses, reporting, and construction oversight. A key aspect of this role will also involve business development for both existing and prospective clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget effectively.
- Engage in business development for both new and existing clients.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering service proposals, cost estimates, and timelines.
- Draft Project Work Plans and Health and Safety Plans.
- Provide technical support on geotechnical projects.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering reports and documentation.
- Review engineering reports and documents crafted by junior staff.
- Ensure the quality of project deliverables.
- Mentor and facilitate the technical development of junior engineers.
- Conduct Independent Technical Reviews.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safe project execution.
- Provide technical leadership in specialized areas and exhibit proficiency in engineering principles and practices across various assignments.
- Independently address technical challenges and represent the organization at conferences.
- Resolve significant questions and plan and coordinate work initiatives.
- Utilize advanced techniques, modifying and extending established theories and practices within the field.
- Possess knowledge and expertise gained through progressive experience, with guidance focusing on overarching objectives and critical issues.
- Receive direction on exceptional conditions and developments.
