A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience in construction monitoring, environmental inspection, habitat assessments, and biological surveys. A valid U. S. Driver License is mandatory for this position. Independent travel is essential. U. S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work. Preferred Qualifications:6+ years of relevant experience in construction monitoring, environmental inspection, habitat assessments, and biological surveys. Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife and plant species in northern California. Experience as an environmental compliance leader on projects that involve preconstruction surveys and construction monitoring. Proficiency in preparing pre-construction and post-construction reports.

AECOM is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Field Wildlife Biologist (Biologist III) to contribute to California's vital surface transportation initiatives in the North Bay Area. Join our dynamic team of over 100 environmental experts based in Oakland, CA, and make a difference in the field of natural resources.

*This role is primarily field-based and on-call, with hours varying based on project needs. Travel to the North Bay area is mandatory.

Your primary responsibility will be to support a transportation client in northern California, particularly focusing on the North Bay Area regions of Marin, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano Counties. This position emphasizes impact analysis of biological and aquatic resources, including biological monitoring, field surveys, and detailed reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.
  • Perform surveys for special-status plants and vegetation mapping.
  • Serve as a field lead or task manager on projects.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports documenting survey findings and contribute to leading the authorship of these reports.
  • Actively participate as a collaborative and supportive member of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting team in the SF Bay Area.
  • Regular travel to the North Bay Area is required.
