Qualifications

Required Qualifications:A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred. Comprehensive experience in HVAC and hydronic system design. Experience in designing geothermal or district energy systems is an advantage. Proficiency with Revit or AutoCAD software. A New York State Professional Engineer’s license is a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

We are excited to announce that we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Division, specifically within our Energy Infrastructure team. This position is available at our Syracuse, Elmira, or Ithaca, NY offices.

At LaBella Associates, our Energy Infrastructure team specializes in delivering comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy consulting services. This includes conducting feasibility analyses and designing advanced mechanical systems. Our talented engineers excel in all facets of mechanical design for building and energy systems, catering to diverse projects, including new constructions, renovations, and design/build assignments for a wide range of clients.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take a lead role in various decarbonization and electrification projects, guiding them from feasibility assessments through to design and construction phases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities, mentor junior engineers, and effectively communicate with clients to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of building HVAC systems and district energy systems.
  • Conduct field investigations to accurately document existing conditions.
  • Perform selection and calculations for design purposes.
  • Collaborate with junior engineers in the development and review of project drawings and documentation.
  • Engage directly with clients by analyzing design options, conducting cost-benefit comparisons, and communicating findings to support their decision-making processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and utility requirements.
