Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (minimum 4 years). Demonstrated expertise in Secondary Systems Engineering, particularly for HV/EHV Substations. Proven track record in delivering secondary design packages for EPC/Design-Build substation projects. Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, Australian Standards, and Middle Eastern codes and standards) is advantageous. Strong knowledge of protection & control systems, substation secondary circuits and interlocking, AC/DC auxiliary systems, and relay protection schemes and logic. Experience in independently producing comprehensive secondary deliverables. Ability to coordinate effectively across various engineering disciplines. Proficiency in English (both oral and written) is mandatory.

AECOM Enterprise Capabilities is in search of a Senior Engineer specializing in Transmission & Distribution (Secondary). This pivotal role involves overseeing the design and implementation of secondary engineering systems for High Voltage Substations, which encompasses protection, control, automation, and communication systems. The focus is on delivering superior engineering outputs throughout all phases of projects including Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design, Construction, and Commissioning support, while ensuring adherence to technical standards, constructability, and reliable substation operations.

  • Generate and present secondary design documentation for High Voltage Substations.
  • Formulate protection and control philosophies, contributing to Basis of Design documentation.
  • Execute engineering designs for AC/DC auxiliary systems, control circuits, interlocking, and automation interfaces.
  • Assist in relay configuration and protection scheme design (distance, differential, overcurrent, busbar, transformer protection, etc.).
  • Ensure designs are feasible, constructible, and consistent with project scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager to facilitate engineering planning, monitor deliverables, and ensure technical coordination.
  • Work in conjunction with primary, civil, and SCADA/telecom disciplines to guarantee an integrated and clash-free design.
  • Provide limited technical support to junior engineers when required, without formal mentorship obligations.
