Job Overview
We are excited to invite applications for the position of Land Survey Intern at our Rochester, NY office. In this role, you will engage in a variety of survey tasks, including topographic and boundary surveying, construction staking, and structure monitoring. You will collaborate closely with Licensed Professional Surveyors, gaining invaluable experience in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the survey crew chief in executing survey field tasks.
- Adhere to established safety protocols for land surveying.
- Utilize advanced surveying technologies such as GPS, Robotic Total Stations, digital and differential levels, UAVs, high-definition scanners, and data collection devices.
- Prepare the site by clearing brush, driving stakes, recording detailed notes, and creating sketches.
- Process survey data and generate maps and related work products using software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, and others.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Proficient with GPS and Robotic Total Stations, data collectors, and drafting technologies.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, and Inroads software is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A collaborative team player.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to drive a passenger vehicle.
- Willingness to wear personal protective safety equipment throughout the day.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- Physical capability to carry equipment weighing between 30 to 60 pounds multiple times a day, with occasional lifts of up to 75 pounds.
- Proficient in navigating uneven terrain and confined spaces safely.
Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
