Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in the construction sector, or a comparable combination of technical training and relevant experience. Senior-level estimators should possess prior experience in supervising team bidding efforts and estimating a diverse range of projects and contracts. Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background checks. Valid Driver’s License and compliance with all company-required safety training. Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and avoiding conflicts of interest. Strong technical skills including advanced knowledge of estimating software and project management tools. Comprehensive understanding of collective bargaining agreements, personnel issues, and EEO regulations. Thorough knowledge of construction contracts and laws. Solid grasp of industry practices, standards, and technologies, along with their implications on project activities.

Join Essel Environmental as a Heavy Civil Estimator, where you will play a crucial role in shaping our projects through accurate estimates and expert coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop precise estimates by meticulously reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to define project scope. Utilize historical data to forecast unit and man-hour requirements, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and adhering to company standards.
  • Coordinate with project teams to establish completion dates and technical specifications. This includes comprehensive takeoffs for the scope of work, estimating manpower, equipment, and material needs, while collaborating with field personnel to optimize work schedules.
  • Manage job setups by preparing necessary documents such as breakdowns, subcontracts, and purchase orders, while also reviewing plans and field modifications to prepare change orders as needed.
  • Work in partnership with Project Managers and Superintendents to troubleshoot issues, enhance efficiencies, and recommend procedural improvements that align with project objectives and budget constraints.
  • Maintain organized internal documentation related to the estimating function, including project logs, records, and reports. Contribute to the development and refinement of estimating guidelines, manuals, and policies.
