Teens Make Health Happen Mentorship
Palm Beach County
Are you passionate about uplifting your community and fostering the next generation of health leaders? Join HealthCorps in our mission to enhance the well-being of youth, both mentally and physically, by seizing this opportunity to make a real difference.
About Us
At HealthCorps, we are a national, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives by tackling health challenges within communities. We offer innovative and engaging programming tailored for teens, focusing on education, leadership, and service learning. Our goal is to empower young individuals to be catalysts for change within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. We recognize that limited access to health education can lead to lifelong social, emotional, and physical challenges.
Your Role
We are seeking a creative, friendly, and self-motivated individual to implement the innovative wellness initiative, Teens Make Health Happen, at 2-3 middle or high schools in Palm Beach County. As a TMHH Mentor, you will inspire teens to adopt healthier choices for themselves and their families, acting as a catalyst for sustainable change while creating leadership opportunities for youth at your designated sites.
Throughout the academic year, you will serve as a near-peer mentor to local middle and high school students, gaining hands-on experience in leading the Teens Make Health Happen club. You'll support teens in planning and executing wellness programming, including lunchtime demonstrations, step challenges, and community improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Build Strong Relationships: Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective program delivery across 2 school sites while participating in ongoing professional development opportunities provided by the organization at no cost.
- Assess School Needs and Impact: Research health inequities present in your assigned schools and measure your impact through needs assessments, reporting, and tracking your mentorship progress.
- Manage TMHH Clubs: Plan and implement the successful execution of the Teens Make Health Happen program, committing 8+ hours each week throughout the academic year.
