Join our expanding Geotechnical department at LaBella Associates as we seek a talented Geotechnical Project Engineer to support our team in the picturesque southern tier of New York (excluding New York City). This position is open to candidates ranging from entry-level to associate level. Salary is flexible and will be determined based on your relevant experience during discussions with the supervisor and division director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct geotechnical field services, which may encompass subsurface exploration layouts, drilling and test pit inspections, geophysical surveys, and construction monitoring.
- Perform visual classification and laboratory testing of soil samples obtained during subsurface investigations.
- Compile subsurface exploration logs for geotechnical evaluations and reports.
- Execute geotechnical evaluations and draft reports for senior-level review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- 0 - 3 years of progressive experience in the geotechnical sector.
- Prior experience in a geotechnical laboratory is advantageous, though not mandatory.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred, but not required.
- A valid driver's license is necessary.
- This role will entail out-of-town fieldwork based on project demands (approximately 40% of the time).
- Candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- A high degree of self-motivation is required.
- Ability to apply engineering principles across diverse geotechnical projects.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000
The salary offered will depend on various factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
