Qualifications

Exceptional skills in analysis, testing, and troubleshooting, along with an organized approach to problem-solving. A strong foundation in electrical systems. Hands-on experience with computer systems, programs, and PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), as well as pneumatic and hydraulic devices. Proficiency in reading technical drawings (P&IDs) and ladder logic diagrams; ability to perform instrument calibrations. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting. Experience within ISO 9000 and/or process-oriented industrial facilities (chemical, pharmaceutical, food) is advantageous.3-5 years of experience or a minimum of 1 year plus completion of a Technical School; a college degree is a plus. Familiarity with CMMS software and smart instruments is a plus.

About the job

The Instrumentation Controls Technician will be a key member of our team, working the 2nd shift to document, analyze, and test computer control systems in alignment with user system design specifications and machine operating systems. The role involves performing maintenance and calibration on various devices and instruments, as well as troubleshooting existing equipment to ensure optimal efficiency and operation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Utilize systems analysis techniques and procedures to consult with users for determining specifications for control systems hardware, software, or functionality.
  • Document, analyze, and test computer systems or programs based on user design specifications.
  • Conduct documentation and testing for computer programs that relate to machine operating systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot devices/instruments and labeling equipment.
  • Manage the Calibration Program, including scheduling, performing calibrations on specific instruments, and ensuring compliance with ISO 9000 requirements through Calibration Manager Software.
  • Perform regular maintenance on specific electrical and electronic devices and systems.
  • Provide weekend support, which includes on-site troubleshooting for plant operations in the controls field when necessary.
