Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years of experience in inpatient coding within a Trauma 1 environment. Possession of RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification is required. Exceptional communication, analytical, and research skills with a meticulous attention to detail. Your qualifications must also encompass a solid understanding of:Coding principles for facility diagnosis and procedure coding along with DRG assignment. Legal and policy guidelines relevant to coding practices. Familiarity with appropriate reference materials, standards, and guidelines for coding. Experience with various EMRs and encoders, or a quick learning aptitude. Commitment to confidentiality requirements.

As an Inpatient DRG Medical Coder at Sutherland, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting intricate medical records to ensure precise billing for Trauma 1 facility inpatient services. Your responsibilities will include accurately assigning and sequencing diagnostic and procedure codes in adherence to third-party payer regulations. Additionally, you will proactively seek clarification when faced with conflicting, ambiguous, or vague documentation.
