To be successful, you will possess:A Bachelor of Health Information Management (HIM) or a Certificate IV in Clinical Classification or an equivalent qualification. Eligibility for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA). Prior coding experience within a tertiary level hospital setting. Experience working in a healthcare environment. A solid understanding of the Australian Coding Standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Competency with web-based applications.

Join Epworth HealthCare as a Health Information Manager, where your primary responsibility will be to meticulously code medical records in line with the Australian Coding Standards. Upholding confidentiality is paramount while contributing to the overall effectiveness of our healthcare services. We have both full-time and part-time positions available at our Richmond and Geelong hospital locations.

Your contributions will include:

  • Precise coding, indexing, and grouping of medical episodes using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and Australian Coding Standards.
  • Engaging in the Coding for Complexity process to ensure accurate DRG assignment reflecting the complexity of each episode.
  • Promptly notifying the Patient Revenue Department of DRG and Principal Diagnosis changes as per established protocols.
  • Participating in the Epworth Auditing program, including querying clinicians to ensure correct coding practices that accurately represent clinical concepts.
