About the job
Join Maxwell Energy's dynamic electronics hardware team as a Hardware Design Engineer. In this hands-on role, you will lead the design, development, and testing of innovative electronic circuits and systems. Collaborate with a dedicated team committed to enhancing advanced electronics and ensure our products can withstand diverse operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop both digital and analog electronics tailored for high-performance electronic systems.
- Take full ownership of control boards and other electronic components—from initial specifications to design, prototyping, and manufacturing.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with teams specializing in mechanical, digital control, thermal design, and manufacturing testing.
- Conduct product-level electrical design, focusing on component selection, branch circuit design, and insulation coordination.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in electrical engineering within a product design and manufacturing setting (experience with high power Li-Ion batteries is an advantage).
- Proficient in overseeing PCB layout to minimize stray inductance and capacitance, implement efficient placement strategies for manufacturability, and optimize power/signal planes for electromagnetic compatibility.
- Expertise in using Altium Designer for schematic and PCB layout design.
- Experience with high current power semiconductor selection (IGBTs, MOSFETs, and Diodes), along with gate drive and protection circuit designs.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and power converter circuit simulation tools.
- Experience with DSPs, microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices, including their peripheral circuitry (such as signal conditioning and board-level power supplies).
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental, reliability, and safety standards for Automotive, Industrial, and Residential applications.
- Work closely with the BMS hardware/software engineering team to design, validate, and deploy effective testing tools.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), or a related field.
