We collaborate with campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and other initiatives focused on pivotal issues such as racial justice, climate action, digital privacy, immigration rights, and economic equity.
We are in search of a passionate and innovative Graphic Design Intern to become part of our creative team for SPRING 2026 (March 2026 - May 2026).
What will you do in this role?
As a Graphic Design Intern at Middle Seat, you’ll collaborate with our design team to create compelling visuals that support meaningful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include developing social media graphics, digital advertisements, print materials, branding assets, and more. You will have the opportunity to express your creative ideas while learning to work efficiently in a fast-paced political design setting.
This role can be performed remotely or in-person at our Washington, D. C. office. Please note that this position is not part of the bargaining unit.
Experience you will gain:
- Designing graphics for email, social media, and digital ads
- Implementing brand guidelines into new and existing creative assets
- Creating simple animations (GIFs, video loops) and editing video content
- Assisting with print projects including flyers, proposals, and direct mail
- Contributing to larger design initiatives such as identity design and web graphics
- Receiving and applying feedback from designers, strategists, and clients
- Working alongside strategists, developers, and other creatives to produce cross-platform materials

- You are a senior in your final year of undergraduate studies or a recent graduate
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in design for advocacy, nonprofit, or political projects
- Familiarity with Adobe After Effects or other motion graphics software
- Skills in editing short videos using After Effects or Premiere Pro
- Understanding of accessibility best practices in design
- Interest in UX/UI or web design
Essential qualities:
- A commitment to supporting progressive political candidates and causes
- A collaborative spirit
- An awareness of current events, particularly in relation to the U. S. political landscape and key progressive issues
- The ability to commit to a full-time schedule (40 hours/week)
