The organization restores degraded land into tropical forests by combining advanced science, forestry, and technology. With support from major global partners, the team removes millions of tonnes of CO2, revives endangered biodiversity, and helps rural communities grow economically. Current projects span three West African countries, with more expansion underway.

Role overview

The Geospatial Systems Lead oversees spatial data and planning for Rainforest Builder. This London-based role manages cadastral surveying, spatial data collection, curation, mapping, and geospatial analysis. The position is responsible for large-scale land surveying and drone operations, supporting the planning of management units that cover tens of thousands of hectares.

With over ten thousand hectares already managed or about to be surveyed, this role will expand as the organization grows. The Geospatial Systems Lead supervises a broad, geographically dispersed field operation across several West African sites. The job is full-time and based in London, with a hybrid or remote setup. About three months of travel per year to West Africa project locations is expected.

Requirements

  • Expertise in managing and analyzing large spatial datasets
  • Strong background in cadastral surveying, with experience leading mapping teams, especially in Global South contexts
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and address operational challenges as they arise
