About the job
Hello! Join Us at Forerunner.
At Forerunner, we are dedicated to making climate adaptation accessible for all communities. Our powerful software empowers local governments to effectively plan for the future amidst the complexities of climate change, particularly in managing flood risks. By harnessing local-level flood risk data, we help municipalities communicate with residents and higher government levels more efficiently.
Your Role
As part of our engineering team, you will lead a close-knit group of 4-5 engineers, focused on providing innovative solutions that enable floodplain managers across the USA to tackle the challenges posed by flooding. We understand the intricacies of our domain and strive to simplify it for our users, allowing them to prioritize what truly matters—combating climate change and protecting homes.
We foster a flexible work environment and value accountability. Please note that we are currently unable to sponsor H1-B visas, so candidates must possess permanent residency or citizenship.
Our technology stack includes:
- Frontend: Typescript, React.js, React Native with testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, and Maestro.
- Backend: GraphQL API built on Node.js and Typescript with Jest for testing.
- Database: Postgres, with extensive use of PostGIS.
- Version Control: Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
- Deployment: AWS using ECS and other cloud services.
- Other Tools: Various cloud providers and SaaS solutions like GCP and Twilio.
While familiarity with all these technologies is not mandatory, a foundational understanding of several is essential.
We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, as climate change impacts us all, and our team should reflect this diversity.
