Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required. At least 3 years of relevant work experience. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Familiarity with Powerfaids and NetPartner is preferred. Proficiency in Banner, Excel, Salesforce, and Federal Student Aid Systems is advantageous. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities; strong writing and editing skills are essential. Experience interacting with non-traditional/adult learners and supporting both undergraduate and graduate programs is a plus. A collaborative approach to managing a demanding workload is necessary. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy is critical. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and follow through on projects. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Job Summary: Oversee daily financial aid operations, including the assessment of financial information from applicants to determine aid eligibility and awards in line with federal regulations and university policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, provide counseling and guidance to primarily graduate students regarding all facets of financial aid, such as budgeting, debt management, federal and private loan options, and repayment strategies. Ensure program adherence to federal guidelines, and communicate relevant federal regulations and institutional policies to students. Evaluate financial aid applications and appeals, establish eligibility and need, and allocate funds accordingly. Confirm enrollment status and academic performance, and coordinate the disbursement of financial aid funds. Collaborate with DCE program offices to address degree requirements, satisfactory academic progress, and graduation matters.

Review federal loan data via NSLDS and other federal platforms for current and prospective students seeking financial aid. Monitor the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG), load ISIRs into Powerfaids, and conduct post-screenings of NSLDS. Liaise with external scholarship and loan agencies, as well as other educational institutions when necessary.

Participate in the creation and refinement of financial aid documentation, student communications, website content, and departmental policies and procedures. Engage in system testing and the troubleshooting of changes and updates to existing and new processes, particularly within Powerfaids. Attend university-wide Financial Aid Officers Council (FAOC) meetings and pursue relevant training and workshops as needed. Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

This role is based in Cambridge, MA, with a hybrid work model requiring a minimum of 2 days per week on campus. Adjustments to this model may be made by the DCE or department as necessary.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
