Position: Engineering Manager (Cards)
Location: London Victoria Office - Hybrid: 4 days on-site, 1 day remote
Role Overview
We are in search of a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to guide a skilled team of engineers in developing and maintaining our state-of-the-art financial technology platform. In this pivotal role, you will influence the technical trajectory of our cards division and ensure the delivery of top-notch solutions that align with our clients’ requirements. Your leadership will cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within your team while promoting continuous growth and improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership:
- Oversee a domain/subdomain and establish a technical roadmap for the next 0-6 months.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to guarantee architectural consistency.
- Ensure accountability for the reliability, availability, and security of your systems.
- Maintain comprehensive support, SLAs, on-call arrangements, and documentation for all systems.
- Delivery Management:
- Take charge of your team’s delivery, including sprint planning and project health oversight.
- Evaluate the urgency of unplanned tasks to minimize context-switching and undue stress.
- Balance team capacity against roadmap requirements.
- Instill a sense of urgency to achieve an optimal balance between speed and quality.
- Ensure ownership for all incidents.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between engineering and product, partnering closely with your product counterpart to ensure complete alignment.
- Effectively communicate progress and escalate issues as necessary.
- People Management:
- Guide and nurture a team of engineers at varying levels of expertise, fostering their professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Champion a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
