The Role

Join us at VEG as an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, where you will play a crucial role from day one. You will support your team, provide comfort to pet parents, and immerse yourself in hands-on learning. Your responsibilities will encompass triage, treatment, and patient care, allowing you to grow into a crucial member of our team. Whether you aim to become a credentialed technician or explore other avenues in veterinary care, we'll champion your growth every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm welcome and support by triaging incoming patients to direct them toward appropriate care.
  • Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in managing anesthesia and sedation cases.
  • Set up and administer IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medications.
  • Support patient care in various settings, ensuring continuity from the exam room to the treatment area.
  • Participate in patient rounds to stay informed about clinical developments.
  • Learn to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
  • Advance into more complex responsibilities, including anesthesia.
