Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering. Membership in the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec). Experience in energy production, hydropower, high voltage, or industrial systems is a significant asset. Familiarity with protection and control systems, SCADA, programmable logic controllers, and protective relays. Proficiency in electrical analysis software (ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, etc.). Able to work in power plants, construction sites, or remote environments as needed. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

About the job

  • Design, analyze, and optimize electrical systems for hydropower plants, including generators, alternators, transformers, circuit breakers, and control systems.

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of modernization, automation, and equipment upgrade projects.

  • Conduct electrical studies such as short circuit analysis, protection coordination, power quality assessments, and network stability evaluations.

  • Oversee fieldwork, including testing, commissioning, and technical diagnostics.

  • Collaborate with maintenance teams, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and automation specialists.

  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, plans, and engineering recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC) and safety regulations.

  • Assist in the continuous improvement of operational practices and asset reliability.
