Proven experience in strategic partnership development and corporate engagement within the climate or environmental sectors. Strong understanding of maritime shipping dynamics and zero-emission technologies. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders. Multilingual proficiency, particularly in East Asian languages. Demonstrated commitment to climate justice and equity. A degree in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Within our climate division, we advocate for the cessation of fossil fuel reliance in the shipping sector. Our efforts include establishing robust regulatory frameworks aimed at achieving zero-emission shipping within a timeline that reflects the urgency of the climate crisis. We engage corporate stakeholders to demand zero-emission vessels and influence ports along the Pacific West Coast and beyond to cease fossil fuel expansions, preparing them for a future of zero-emission shipping. Our focus encompasses environmental justice, labor equity, and scientifically grounded timelines for climate action.

Position Overview 

We are in search of a dynamic, relationship-focused Director of Strategic Partnerships, Climate - Asia Region to enhance climate leadership among key Asian carriers, maritime shipping entities, and cargo owners, while supporting the initiation of zero-emission ocean shipping commitments and demonstration projects. This pivotal role is essential for securing new net-zero commitments, shaping industry narratives, convening executive stakeholders, and cultivating profound cross-cultural relationships that foster transformational decarbonization results.
 
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with global partners, including Asian, European, and U. S. cargo owners and industries, academic institutions, and prominent maritime organizations to generate momentum for zero-emission fuels and ocean transport.
 
We seek an individual who is multilingual, culturally adept across East Asia, skilled in building trust with senior executives, and experienced in global corporate engagement, with a fervent commitment to advancing society beyond fossil fuels while upholding climate justice and equity principles.
 
This position will report to the Senior Director, Climate Campaign at Pacific Environment.
