About the Team

At Databricks, we are dedicated to empowering data teams to tackle some of the world's most significant challenges—from bringing forth the next mode of transportation to fast-tracking medical innovations.

Data ingestion into the Lakehouse is a crucial investment area for Databricks, serving as a fundamental enabler for Data and AI workflows. The Lakeflow Connect team is focused on addressing this challenge by offering ready-to-use, user-friendly connectors for a diverse array of data sources, including enterprise applications (such as Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow, SharePoint), databases (e.g., SQL Server), cloud storage, message queues, and local files.

As a pivotal component of Lakeflow and Data Engineering, Connect also represents a vital platform capability. Every facet of Databricks (Dashboards, Notebooks, SQL, AI) relies on ingestion capabilities, and the individual in this role will collaborate closely with other products to integrate Connect seamlessly into these platforms.

We are seeking a seasoned leader to manage our Connect organization in India. This presents a fantastic opportunity to spearhead a key strategic initiative for Databricks. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading teams that develop Data infrastructure and possess a keen interest in managing product-centric organizations. Additionally, the ability to effectively collaborate across time zones and organizational boundaries is essential.

The impact you will have:

  • Address significant business needs on a large scale by leveraging your software engineering expertise.
  • Guarantee consistent milestone delivery and align closely with the field while working collaboratively with product leadership.
  • Adapt the organizational structure to align with long-term initiatives, fostering robust teams with effective communication architecture.
  • Oversee technical debt management, including long-term architectural decisions, while balancing the product roadmap.
  • Engage in and lead technical, product, and design discussions.
  • Build, manage, and operate highly scalable cloud services.
  • Nurture team leaders through coaching, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with other engineering and product leaders on planning, prioritization, and staffing.
  • Foster a culture of excellence within the team while leading with empathy.

What we look for:

  • 15+ years of experience in developing and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Expertise in building, nurturing, and managing high-performance engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on empowerment and team development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
