About the Role
As the Director of Demand Generation at Descript, you will take the lead in shaping and implementing our strategy to drive pipeline and revenue growth across both enterprise and self-serve business sectors. You will manage the entire demand generation process, from raising market awareness to acquiring leads, nurturing prospects, and ultimately converting them into customers.
Your role will require a combination of data-driven strategy, operational excellence, and deep audience understanding to create significant impact across various channels and demographics. Collaborating closely with teams in Product Marketing, Revenue Operations, and Sales, you will design scalable programs that educate the market, establish Descript as a frontrunner in the industry, and accelerate pipeline efficiency.
You will report directly to the Head of Marketing and be an integral part of the marketing leadership team, influencing the overarching go-to-market strategy of the company.
What You Will Do
- Develop and lead a comprehensive demand generation and growth marketing strategy across enterprise and self-serve segments, aligning with Descript’s go-to-market and revenue objectives. While we have successfully developed self-serve channels, your expertise will be crucial in expanding our B2B initiatives, including establishing new channels such as events, partnerships, and community engagement.
- Enhance and optimize the systems that drive pipeline generation, ensuring that our marketing efforts consistently support our expanding sales organization.
- Take responsibility for Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) by executing integrated, multi-channel campaigns that utilize product positioning, audience insights, and creative contributions from other marketing team members.
- Collaborate with leadership across Marketing, Sales, and Revenue Operations to ensure alignment on funnel KPIs; create feedback loops that facilitate ongoing improvements in our strategy, toolset, and creative execution for awareness, nurturing, and conversion.
- Mentor and manage a team of growth marketing professionals.
- Advance our marketing automation processes, lead scoring mechanisms, and reporting capabilities.
What You Bring
- Over 10 years of experience in B2B SaaS demand generation or growth marketing, with at least 3 to 5 years in a leadership role managing teams.
- A proven history of achieving pipeline and revenue growth.
- Extensive expertise in various acquisition, engagement, and nurturing channels, including paid social media, email marketing, content syndication, and partnerships.
- Advanced knowledge of AI-driven marketing stacks and automation workflows (experience with tools like Cargo, Clay, n8n, Instantly Reply, or similar is preferred).
- An analytical mindset with a strong grasp of marketing metrics, attribution, and forecasting.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication abilities; capable of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and presenting effectively to executives.
- A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and execution.
