robust-ai is seeking a Data Science Intern in San Carlos, CA to help turn raw data from a growing fleet of collaborative mobile robots into actionable insights. As these robots operate across different customer sites, they generate large volumes of telemetry, transaction, and event log data. This internship focuses on transforming that information into clear visualizations and reports that support Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams in understanding real-world robot performance.
What you will do
- Automated Dashboards: Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Python, R, or similar tools to track key performance indicators and highlight issues across the robot fleet.
- Pattern Recognition: Analyze robot logs to detect recurring edge cases, such as identifying why robots at certain sites encounter more docking problems than others.
- Feature Usage Analysis: Study customer usage patterns of features like fleet energy management and queuing to inform product improvements.
- Failure Analysis: Work with the Validation team to categorize and visualize safety incidents and hardware failures, aiming to improve overall fleet reliability.
- Data Pipeline Support: Assist in refining data ingestion systems to ensure accurate capture and reporting of essential robot data.
- Business Insights: Create visualizations that translate robot telemetry into business metrics, such as throughput consistency and fleet uptime, to help customers make operational decisions.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficient with Python (including Pandas and NumPy), R, or other data analysis platforms. Experience with data visualization tools is required.
- Interest in robotics and an eagerness to see how code impacts real-world robotic behavior.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical failures and their customer impact to non-technical audiences.
- Bonus: Experience with ROS and rosbag analysis.
