Qualifications

Requirements:High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in the industry or equivalent certification/trade experience. Five years of experience in a supervisory and training capacity, including performance management. CFC Certification is preferred; candidates should possess relevant engineering and trade licenses as required by local, state, or national regulations. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, energy management software, CMMS, and other operational platforms. Willingness to travel daily to assigned properties as required. Demonstrated expertise in HVAC, BAS, fire protection, and life safety systems. Exceptional troubleshooting abilities, capital budgeting, and energy management skills.

The Chief Building Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading the Engineering team, ensuring optimal building maintenance, repair, and operations while prioritizing tenant satisfaction, safety, and overall building efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all facets of building maintenance, focusing on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Track and manage building energy consumption to promote efficient operations.
  • Supervise contractor engagements and oversee tenant improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage budgets; oversee inventory and procurement processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and assess the Engineering team; establish performance goals and professional development plans.
  • Work collaboratively with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure smooth operations and resolve tenant concerns.
  • Coordinate with vendors to define project scopes and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections to ensure systems function efficiently; maintain meticulous records and compliance documentation.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and protocols; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA standards; manage safety programs and training.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, leadership, vendors, tenants, and clients.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
