The Building Engineer I plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating essential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This position entails performing routine maintenance tasks, efficiently responding to tenant requests, and ensuring the safe operation of all systems under the mentorship of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems, addressing service requests such as temperature issues, plumbing concerns, and lighting repairs.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and escalate significant issues as necessary.
- Replace light fixtures, filters, and other components as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and equipment performance to ensure system reliability.
- Engage with tenants, contractors, and property managers, collaborating with senior engineers and technicians to facilitate smooth building operations and resolve tenant issues.
- Assist in preventive maintenance tasks and oversee contractor activities.
- Conduct property inspections to identify and rectify deficiencies.
- Record equipment readings and verify that all assigned building systems are functioning within established standards.
- Adhere to company safety protocols, utilize appropriate PPE, ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations, report safety hazards, and participate in safety inspections.
- Provide mentorship to junior Technicians as needed.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees to keep all stakeholders informed.
- Work closely with senior engineers to enhance technical skills and participate in professional development opportunities for career advancement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
