Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED is required. Two to three years of relevant job experience or equivalent certification/trade experience. CFC Certification is preferred, or the willingness to obtain it as requested; must possess engineering and trade licenses as required by local, state, or national regulations. Basic proficiency with laptop and smartphone applications for work order and facility operations, along with foundational skills in Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of fire/life safety equipment and procedures is essential. Proven ability to deliver exceptional internal and external customer service, effectively communicating with tenants, vendors, contractors, teammates, and leadership. Familiarity with building systems and maintenance practices is a plus.

The Building Engineer I plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating essential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This position entails performing routine maintenance tasks, efficiently responding to tenant requests, and ensuring the safe operation of all systems under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems, addressing service requests such as temperature issues, plumbing concerns, and lighting repairs.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and escalate significant issues as necessary.
  • Replace light fixtures, filters, and other components as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and equipment performance to ensure system reliability.
  • Engage with tenants, contractors, and property managers, collaborating with senior engineers and technicians to facilitate smooth building operations and resolve tenant issues.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance tasks and oversee contractor activities.
  • Conduct property inspections to identify and rectify deficiencies.
  • Record equipment readings and verify that all assigned building systems are functioning within established standards.
  • Adhere to company safety protocols, utilize appropriate PPE, ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations, report safety hazards, and participate in safety inspections.
  • Provide mentorship to junior Technicians as needed.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees to keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to enhance technical skills and participate in professional development opportunities for career advancement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
