About the role
The Aviation Construction Representative is essential for ensuring seamless on-site field coverage of airfield construction projects in Dallas, TX. This role acts as the primary point of contact for real-time field insights, supporting the safe operation of airfields and confirming that construction activities align with approved plans and specifications. By delivering timely updates, this position empowers Project Managers (PMs) and Construction Managers (CMs) to make informed decisions.
This role is critical in active airfield environments, requiring strong situational awareness, discipline, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Coverage & Real-Time Awareness
- Maintain an on-site presence according to contractor schedules, closures, and ongoing operations.
- Monitor construction activities to confirm the current work status (e.g., setup completed, work in progress, ready for inspection).
- Serve as the primary source for immediate field feedback for PMs and CMs.
- Communicate any changes in field conditions promptly and accurately.
Field Verification & Early Issue Identification
- Ensure that installed materials and construction activities comply with approved plans and specifications (e.g., pipe type, bedding, installation methods).
- Identify discrepancies early and raise concerns before further progress.
- Facilitate real-time issue resolution by alerting the contractor, QA, CM, and PM as needed.
- Differentiate clearly between observations, concerns, and issues that require escalation.
Safety & Airfield Operational Compliance
- Confirm daily airfield safety and operational elements, including barricades, temporary lighting, temporary markings, and FOD control.
- Support Part 139 operational readiness expectations, including ROFA, TOFA, RSA, and TSA requirements.
- Ensure readiness for closures before work commences.
- Identify and promptly escalate any unsafe or non-compliant conditions.
- Only halt work when there is an immediate safety or operational risk.
Closures, Access, and Escorting
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of closures in collaboration with Operations and the contractor.
- Confirm closure limits, access points, and necessary protection measures.
- Escort contractors into restricted or controlled areas as required.
- Coordinate access logistics to ensure work proceeds efficiently and safely.
Inspection Coordination
- Support inspection activities by being present during construction work.
- Facilitate the alignment of inspections with ongoing construction operations.
- Highlight items needing QA attention in real-time.
