About the job
Skydio designs and builds autonomous drones in San Mateo, California. Their technology supports professionals across industries, including utility inspectors, first responders, and military personnel. The team combines artificial intelligence, hardware, and software expertise to deliver drones for enterprise, public safety, and defense applications.
Role overview
This internship centers on deep learning and computational photography for Skydio’s AI-powered aerial robotics. The team extracts semantic and geometric details from visual data, advancing real-time deep learning for autonomous navigation. These efforts enhance camera performance and support inspection, mapping, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and public safety missions.
What you will do
- Design, implement, and deploy deep learning models for computational photography tasks such as super-resolution, multi-frame denoising, low-light imaging, and HDR imaging.
- Work with large-scale real-world video and sensor datasets for data mining, curation, labeling, training, and evaluation.
- Train and optimize models for complex challenges, including multimodal scene understanding, optical flow, range estimation, object detection, segmentation and tracking, visual localization and mapping, few-shot learning, and automated path planning.
Who should apply
This internship suits those interested in deep learning for imaging, computer vision, and autonomous systems. Candidates who want to tackle practical and technical challenges in these areas are encouraged to apply.
