Required Qualifications for Success Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, or related disciplines. Certifications in automation or industrial engineering are a plus. At least 1 year of professional experience in automation, preferably within R&D lab settings. Familiarity with integrated schedulers such as Overlord, Cellario, and Green Button Go. Exhibits curiosity and a robust hands-on approach to learning and problem-solving. Capacity to quickly learn and master a diverse range of technical topics. Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers to deliver innovative automation solutions across various scientific disciplines. Working knowledge of software principles. Proven proficiency in mechanical and technical tasks, with practical experience involving physical equipment and components. Strong problem-solving skills alongside effective collaboration and communication abilities. Adaptable and open to feedback.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in the creation and refinement of our state-of-the-art automated workcells. As an Automation Engineer I, you will be pivotal in diagnosing and addressing operational challenges while fueling the innovation that propels our objective of achieving scientific superintelligence. Your responsibilities will encompass pioneering automation solutions in life science laboratories and extending into material and physical sciences, thereby supporting a myriad of applications, including drug discovery, bioengineering, and advanced material characterization. This position promises to equip you with invaluable hands-on experience in an energetic and collaborative environment, aiding in the cultivation of a broad skill set that will be beneficial for your future endeavors in science and technology.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identify, categorize, and resolve issues associated with automated workcells.
  • Efficiently troubleshoot software and electro-mechanical systems, swiftly learning new technologies and documenting processes for team knowledge sharing.
  • Proactively pinpoint potential failure points and spearhead initiatives to mitigate them.
  • Develop automated processes or tools to facilitate the attainment of Lila's objectives.
  • Collaborate on significant projects to gain practical experience and create a tangible impact, including initiatives focused on proactive issue identification, preventive maintenance, and AI integration into troubleshooting operations.
