Qualifications

A degree in commerce, administration, communications, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.3-5 years of experience in customer support, both in-person and online. Proficient in using CRM systems to manage customer data and communications effectively. Experience in the events industry or similar fields (e.g., theater, television). Strong familiarity with Google applications and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Sheets. Adaptable and quick to learn new technologies and tools. Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing consistent and accurate work. Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks based on urgency. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to commute to the NYC office for meetings and events, and to travel internationally as needed.

About the job

As the Audience & Marketing Manager for Podcasts, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the marketing strategy and executing initiatives aimed at increasing listener engagement across TED's diverse podcast portfolio. This position is part of the Audience Strategy & Growth team, closely collaborating with TED’s Audio team to broaden and diversify our listener base, enhance audience engagement, and foster long-term loyalty.

Your primary responsibility will involve leading strategic marketing efforts for several key priority shows while supporting overarching growth initiatives for TED podcasts. You will strengthen our audience strategy, drive listenership using a variety of promotional tools and platforms, and translate performance insights into actionable growth strategies.

This is a temporary grant-sponsored role with an expected start date of April 1, 2026, and an end date of May 31, 2028.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for selected TED podcasts.

  • Optimize existing growth tools and promotional placements, including audio cross-promotions, feed drops, guest appearances, public relations, paid advertising, newsletters, social media, and website outreach.

  • Manage and allocate a paid media budget to effectively reach listeners on social media platforms, YouTube, and search engines.

  • Refine the organic social media strategy for TED podcasts, identifying effective channels for audience growth.

  • Define target audiences, messaging, and channel strategies to effectively reach desired listeners.

  • Develop a growth roadmap based on data analysis, experimental insights, and audience research.

  • Collaborate with PR teams and external partners for press outreach and cultural initiatives, ensuring they have the necessary assets and context.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management

  • Act as a liaison among marketing, editorial, production, public relations, analytics, and platform partners for key shows.

  • Ensure alignment on promotional plans, timelines, and objectives through effective communication with senior stakeholders.

  • Contribute to creative discussions aimed at enhancing top-of-funnel awareness through distribution channels.

  • Coordinate interactions among influencers, editorial partners, podcast guests, hosts, and the production team, managing timelines and deliverables effectively.

Data, Insights & Optimization

  • Evaluate campaign performance, share insights, and apply learnings across various podcasts.

  • Utilize performance metrics to inform and enhance future marketing efforts.
