THE PROGRAM

Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program is designed to nurture the next generation of veterinary technicians through hands-on, experiential learning in emergency medicine. You'll be actively involved—not just observing, but engaging directly with the dynamic ER environment.

Gain firsthand experience in patient triage, diagnostics, and inpatient care while working closely with our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians. This program provides an invaluable opportunity to explore your passion for emergency medicine and helps you determine if this is the career path you wish to pursue. Build a solid foundation, feel inspired, and become part of something larger.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Learn from leading emergency veterinary professionals.
  • Work alongside a credentialed emergency veterinary technician for mentorship and on-the-job training.
  • Shadow and assist in triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more.
  • Practice skills outlined in your school’s proficiency checklist with guidance and support.
  • Experience the teamwork and fast-paced environment that defines emergency care at VEG.
