Role Overview: Senior Engineer - Datacenter Machine Lifecycle This Senior Engineer position sits within the Datacenter Machine Lifecycle team in London. The role covers every stage in a machine’s operational life: provisioning, deployment, ongoing operation, maintenance, refresh cycles, and decommissioning. As Anthropic expands beyond cloud infrastructure, this is a chance to help define the processes, tools, and standards for managing and retiring hardware at scale. Much of the work will be greenfield, giving room to shape how the company approaches these challenges from the ground up. Security is central to this role. Datacenter machines at Anthropic handle sensitive AI workloads, including model training and serving millions of users through Claude. Maintaining a trusted, attested environment, with a verified chain of integrity from hardware to operation, is essential. This engineer will work closely with the Infrastructure Security team to set and uphold trusted compute standards throughout the machine lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Develop automation to improve efficiency across datacenters running tens of thousands of servers. Own the full machine lifecycle strategy, including provisioning, deployment, operations, maintenance, refresh, and decommissioning. Ensure operational procedures are in place for events like hardware failures, firmware upgrades, and fleet rotations. Partner with Infrastructure Security to design and enforce trusted compute standards throughout the machine lifecycle. Work with the Networking team to ensure reliable connectivity across all datacenter sites. Build and maintain tools to monitor machine health, configuration, and operational status across the entire fleet. Location London
