Willingness to complete the six-week SCDOT TMC training and performance program, which is a condition of continued employment. Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in a call center, customer service, or dispatching role. Proven ability to meet high customer service standards.

AECOM is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator Trainee. This position is crucial for immediate employment with statewide responsibilities for the South Carolina Department of Transportation, based in Columbia, South Carolina.

The TMC operates overnight, with shifts scheduled from 6 PM to 6 AM. Please note that operational hours may shift based on SCDOT's needs, including emergencies, evacuations, and storm responses.

The role entails a consistent rotating schedule that varies weekly, potentially involving 12 to 14-hour days. The starting pay rate for this position is $20.00 per hour, with opportunities for advancement following the successful completion of an initial six-week training and a minimum of one year of high-performance operations.

Responsibilities include utilizing Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) software and web-based applications to monitor highways, manage incidents, dispatch personnel, and coordinate with various agencies including the SC Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispatch and coordinate SHEP patrollers for roadside assistance and incident response.
  • Monitor surveillance footage and other data sources to identify and verify traffic-related events.
  • Document confirmed events affecting traffic flow using specialized software.
  • Control and oversee Intelligent Transportation Systems devices on the freeways.
  • Engage in ongoing technical and customer service training and certification.
