About the job

We are seeking a skilled Tooling Engineer to join an esteemed manufacturer of precision components for the aerospace industry on a contract basis at our Birmingham facility. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in specifying, designing, and configuring tooling within a manufacturing environment.

Commutable from: Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Solihull, Halesowen, Stourbridge, Redditch, Shirley.

Rate: £40 - £50 per hour

Suitable For: Tooling Engineer, Tooling Technician, Toolroom Engineer, CAD Engineer, Design Engineer

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

Executing manufacturing engineering tasks related to the configuration, deployment, maintenance, and upgrading of CAD models.

Reviewing and comprehending existing tooling systems.

Drafting specifications and tooling scopes aligned with technical and manufacturing requirements.

Collaborating with vendors and suppliers while managing critical path timelines to ensure project schedules are met.

Developing a comprehensive tooling methodology and database.

Designing, developing, and engineering high-quality models utilizing 3D and 2D CAD tools to generate NC or CAM packages.

Producing designs that achieve targets for feasibility, performance, cost, quality, safety, compliance with legislation, and timing.

Ensuring adherence to company design, safety, quality, and environmental standards in all work conducted.

The Person

Proven experience with TC Holder tooling audits and tooling control quality systems.

Proficient IT skills and familiarity with CAD software such as Catia V5 and Alpha CAD/Cam or similar, particularly in relation to model-based definition.

A strong background in a manufacturing environment, preferably within aerospace and/or Tier One automotive sectors.

Working knowledge of aerospace product development and related manufacturing processes.

Excellent spatial and design skills to visualize projects effectively in both 2D and 3D formats.

A degree in Engineering or Manufacturing or equivalent practical experience.
