What You’ll Do:Collaborate closely with airframe design and manufacturing engineers to integrate manufacturing and assembly insights during the design phase. Develop tooling for trim, drilling, and assembly operations, as well as manufacturing aids to streamline daily production tasks, encompassing conceptualization, material selection, vendor sourcing, and final inspection. Generate comprehensive CAD files and drawings for assembly fixtures utilizing advanced 3D CAD Software (NX proficiency is preferred). Strong knowledge of GD&T is essential. Design, establish, and perform dimensional inspections on assembly fixturing to support the accurate locating, bonding, and fastening of large, complex primary structures using laser trackers and other dimensional inspection equipment. Create engaging design review presentations and analytical reports to effectively communicate and justify tooling designs. Propose and implement design modifications to enhance manufacturability, error-proofing, ergonomic handling, efficiency, and overall production performance. Engage with manufacturing engineers, design engineers, engineering management, operations, shop floor teams, and external vendors to ensure seamless collaboration. What You Need:A minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience. A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience). Practical experience in fabrication and assembly, demonstrated through previous work, student team involvement, internships, or personal projects. Prior experience in manufacturing and assembling a complete vehicle, including exposure to integration processes. Proven experience in a prototype environment with strong problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with composite part design, material properties, and manufacturing techniques.
