Thermal Engineer
As a Thermal Engineer at Astranis, you will be instrumental in designing, evaluating, and testing innovative thermal solutions, encompassing everything from electronic components to complete spacecraft thermal vacuum tests. A robust problem-solving skill set and hands-on testing experience are essential. While familiarity with spacecraft or printed circuit board thermal management is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
Role- Advance designs through conceptual, preliminary, and detailed phases, utilizing practical passive and active thermal control techniques.
- Facilitate design trades that effectively balance performance margins, resources, risks, costs, and timelines.
- Conduct thermal analyses with varying fidelity levels on diverse hardware types, including propulsion components, batteries, high-powered electronics, RF components, mechanisms, and printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Design, assess, procure, and test thermal solutions such as heaters, heat pipes, thermal interface materials, and surface coatings.
- Establish processes and procedures for integration and assembly to ensure adherence to thermal design specifications. Collaborate with the integration and test team, providing support for thermal hardware installation as needed.
- Plan and execute thermal vacuum testing and verification at both component and spacecraft levels.
- Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new team members as our team continues to grow.
