Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent is required. Preferred candidates will have familiarity with distribution design, construction, estimating, and NESC and/or RUS codes. Knowledge of operations within cable television, telephone, and telecommunications sectors, along with their interactions with electric utilities, is preferred. Experience using Joint Use design software and assembly codes, such as ArcFM, Partner, Mapwise, PoleForeman, and Ike Office, is advantageous. Proficient in computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with data conversion tools like ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or Microstation is preferred. Strong communication skills for conveying technical information, as well as capabilities to research, interpret, and summarize data. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects across various departments. Must possess a high degree of motivation, independence, flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to interact positively with both colleagues and clients. Timmons Group is excited to invite talented Joint Use / Telecommunications Designers to join our dynamic team in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will oversee contractor work to ensure quality control and adherence to contract specifications for various roadway and utility projects. Your project responsibilities will typically encompass traffic management, engagement with sensitive political or environmental issues, and collaboration with property owners, utility companies, as well as local and state agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the processing of attachment permits for Joint Use partners, including cable television and telecommunications companies, municipal governments, and private entities.
  • Serve as the primary communication link between the company and Joint Use partners regarding permits, inspections, rebuilds, as well as interpretations of NESC and RUS codes and company policies.
  • Develop pole construction/design projects related to joint use, including cost estimations, notifications, and CATV permits.
  • Ensure accurate transactions for payments and billing processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of agreements, permits, surveys, inspections, and rebuilds.
  • Carry out additional duties as required, which may include non-joint use design work.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in both office settings and field locations.
