Qualifications

Hold a COC Class 1 or 2 with sailing experience on oil tankers. Minimum of 1 year experience as a Technical Superintendent in ship management operations. Foreign-going Chief Engineer with sea experience preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to manage multiple projects with strong organizational skills. Analytical, resourceful, proactive, and results-oriented individual.

About the job

  • Oversee all technical and safety aspects related to Company vessels, ensuring implementation of Company's technical and safety policies.
  • Execute repair, maintenance, and servicing of vessels as per directives from the Technical Manager.
  • Negotiate with Class Surveyors regarding vessel inspections and prepare reports for the Technical Manager.
  • Advise the Master and Chief Engineer on planned maintenance and coordinate maintenance tasks with the ship’s crew.
  • Inspect vessel machinery spaces to assess cleanliness and maintenance progress by onboard staff.
  • Conduct damage assessments on vessels, completing necessary reports and cost evaluations.
  • Travel to ports as required to supervise vessel repairs and restoration efforts under the Technical Manager’s guidance.
  • Prepare proposals for compliance with new regulations, subject to approval from the relevant Regulatory Authority or Recognised Organization.
  • Act as a liaison and trainer for Cadet officers from Singapore Polytechnic.
  • When visiting vessels or during dry-docking, handle all technical matters locally, ensuring efficient management of repairs and servicing.
  • Ensure prompt communication of service instructions between the vessel and relevant office departments or agents.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of vessels and report findings to the Technical Manager.
  • Maintain safety equipment in accordance with legislative requirements and Company standards.
  • Manage and monitor budgets related to expenditure responsibilities, reporting any variances to the Technical Manager.
  • Provide relevant information on sea-going personnel to the Technical Manager.
