Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering, project management, or management consulting, with a focus on automotive product development. Deep understanding of vehicle testing, particularly in crash safety and strength and durability testing. Able to lead effectively in ambiguous situations and empower teams to succeed. Proficient in project management tools and processes necessary for managing complex projects (e.g., Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, Polarion, Jira).

In this pivotal role, you will orchestrate the planning and execution of technical milestones for our vehicle platforms, guiding them through to launch. Collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, software, safety, operations, and manufacturing teams, you will structure and implement strategies to achieve our ambitious company goals. Your expertise in complex automotive hardware/software systems engineering and integration will be crucial in leading cross-functional teams to resolve critical challenges and deliver on our safety and operational strength objectives.

 

This position demands a proactive and experienced Technical Project Manager to spearhead cross-functional initiatives within the Vehicle Attributes department, particularly focusing on hardware attributes that enhance crash safety and operational durability. You will be responsible for driving the development, validation, and integration of essential vehicle structural systems to ensure our autonomous vehicles meet the highest safety and durability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive project execution for crash safety and operational strength attributes from initial concept to production.
  • Coordinate effectively with Engineering, Safety, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Testing teams to deliver solutions aligned with vehicle structural requirements.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for crash testing programs and durability validation activities.
  • Resolve technical challenges related to crashworthiness, structural integrity, and durability performance.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for crash and strength attributes against vehicle targets.
  • Facilitate test reviews, risk assessments, and benchmark studies.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers, testing facilities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Document project progress, including schedules, status reports, and technical specifications.
  • Identify potential program risks and develop strategies to mitigate them to keep projects on track.
  • Support compliance with regulatory standards for FMVSS crash and strength and durability requirements.
