About Helion Energy

At Helion Energy, we are on a groundbreaking journey to develop the world’s first fusion power plant, committed to delivering an era of unlimited clean electricity. Our vision champions a future where energy is clean, reliable, and accessible for all.

Since our inception in 2013, we have successfully secured over $1 billion in funding from esteemed investors including Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group, along with new partners such as SoftBank and Lightspeed. Our latest prototype, Trenta, has achieved remarkable milestones with over 10,000 high-power pulses and plasma temperatures reaching 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). Currently, we are advancing with Polaris, our next prototype, on the path towards realizing the first fusion power plant.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to join Helion Energy at a pivotal moment. You will confront real-world challenges alongside a team that values urgency, rigor, responsibility, and a dedication to truth—those essential qualities that will help us achieve unprecedented innovations in energy. In this role, you will assess research proposals, collaborate with Helion’s business teams, and guide the project lifecycle from proposal to funding, ensuring that all technical work aligns with Helion’s strategic objectives. Your ability to synthesize technical knowledge will be vital in fostering scientific alignment with our goals. Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading the HERCULES program with a budget of over $20 million over three years.

  • Engaging in cutting-edge research that spans nuclear science, materials, fuel, and pulsed power science, collaborating with internal principal investigators across all technical domains at Helion.

  • Evaluating proposals, managing contracts, distributing funds to research collaborators, and ensuring timely project deliverables.

  • Communicating with potential partners externally to promote the program and reporting internally to leadership on progress and impacts. You will serve as the critical link between Helion’s leadership, PIs, and business units.
