Why This Role Is Crucial? The Distributed Control System (DCS) & Instrumentation Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the sewage treatment plant. This position is responsible for the proper functionality of all automation, control systems, and instruments, thereby safeguarding people, the environment, and optimizing plant performance.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a DCS & Instrumentation Engineer with extensive experience in Yokogawa DCS (such as CENTUM/Prosafe) and SCADA systems, you will have full accountability for process control, instrumentation asset reliability, and industrial communications. Your primary focus will be on maintaining the health and efficiency of Profibus (DP/PA) networks. The ideal candidate will possess a background in corrosive and H₂S-prone sewage treatment plant environments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and continuous operational optimization.DCS / SCADA & Control SystemsAdminister, operate, and enhance Yokogawa DCS, including control strategies, graphics, alarms, trends, historian tags, and backup/restore operations.Enhance SCADA interfaces, dashboards, and reporting systems for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and compliance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Develop, test, and implement logic modifications (such as loop tuning, interlocks, permissives, and sequences) adhering to strict Management of Change (MOC) protocols.Oversee alarm rationalization and limit settings to minimize nuisance alarms and boost operator efficiency.Coordinate factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) for modifications and expansions to control systems.InstrumentationManage the lifecycle of field instruments including selection, installation, calibration, loop checks, diagnostics, and replacements.Involved devices typically include DO, pH/ORP, turbidity/SS, ammonium/nitrate, chlorine, flow (magnetic/ultrasonic), pressure, level (radar/ultrasonic), vibration, temperature, and gas detection.Profibus DP/PA & Industrial CommunicationEnsure the reliability of Profibus DP/PA networks by focusing on topology design, segment diagnostics, termination, shielding/earthing, redundancy, spur lengths, baud rates, device addressing, and GSD management.Utilize diagnostic tools (e.g., bus analyzers) to detect noise, reflections, voltage drops, telegram errors, and intermittent faults.Integrate field devices via Profibus PA couplers/links, gateways, and interfaces with Yokogawa DCS/SCADA; maintain device libraries.Collaborate with electrical and control teams to mitigate EMI and uphold proper cable routing and panel/earthing standards.Support interfaces with MCCs/VFDs, PLC skids, and plant SCADA/IMS/CMMS systems.Safety, Compliance & CybersecurityEnsure all DCS/SIS activities align with plant safety standards, IEC standards, and cybersecurity policies.Enhance operational technology (OT) cybersecurity postures in collaboration with relevant teams.
